Double Eyelid Surgery Techniques in Singapore

The double eyelid creation is an upper blepharoplasty procedure that helps enhances the appearance of the eyes. Double eyelid surgery in Singapore is usually carried through two main methods - the incision method or the suture method.

Korean Double Eyelid Surgery

To achieve a scarless double eyelid creation, we recommend a non-incisional procedure method that involves a stitching technique. The common stitching technique for double eyelids is known as Double Eyelid Suture and Twisted (DST) technique. However, at Shens Clinic, Dr Shens has successfully modified and introduced a Triple Suture Technique (TST). The TST method allows multiple anchor points to be secured which creates a longer crease that is longer lasting.

With more than 20 years of experience and extensive knowledge, Dr Shens has created this niche procedure for double eyelid creation. He has successfully performed over a thousand cases of double eyelid surgery in Singapore with the TST method. Feel free to book a consultation appointment with Dr Shens to understand more about double eyelid stitching at Shens Clinic.

What is The Recovery Period for Double Eyelid Surgery?

The average recovery period for our scarless double eyelid surgery is around 1 week. It is normal for bruising and swelling to occur but it will typically subside within 2-3 days. Post-surgery care instructions will also be provided for a smooth and quick recovery. As the TST is a non-incisional method, it reduces the risks of side effects as compared to incisional methods that require cutting the upper eyelids and general anaesthesia. The TST method is performed under minimal local anaesthesia and is usually completed in under an hour as an outpatient surgery.

FAQs on Double Eyelid Surgery Singapore

Is Double Eyelid Surgery Painful?

As scary as surgery on the eyes may sound. Double eyelid stitching is performed under local anaesthesia and no pain will be felt. Furthermore, the TST method does not require any incision on the skin.

Incision / Non-incisional Double Eyelid Creation?

Incisional double eyelid surgery requires exposure and removal of part of structures such as the eyelid muscles and fats with the intention of creating a prominent fold and deep eyelid opening. On the other hand, with the TST method, there is no cutting or removing of fat from the lids. Since the incisional method is an “open” blepharoplasty procedure, the risk of complications is higher compared to the TST technique. Some potential risks of the incision method are infection, swelling, or noticeable scars around the incision.

Who is Suitable for Double Eyelid Stitching?

The TST double eyelid stitching is suitable for:

  • Patients with monolid eyes that do not have double eyelid fold;
  • who have two different types of eyelid creases and their eyes appear asymmetric;
  • with irregular or multiple upper eyelid folds;
  • with droopy upper eyelids;
  • with inconsistent or uneven eyelid creases;
  • and/or with baggy eyelids.
